Regional District of Fraser-Fort George directors approved almost $7,000 in grant money to Robson Valley groups during their October 17th board meeting.

The Old Age Pensioners Organization, a McBride-based group that organizes recreation activities for seniors, had their $500 request approved. The money will be used to pay for fees at the Robson Valley Recreation Centre.

The Valemount Junior Canadian Rangers Adult Committee Society had their $1790 grant request approved. Junior Canadian Rangers is a youth group that teaches skills such as first aid, cooking, and conflict resolution, among others. The Valemount chapter uses recreational property on Loseth Road, and the grant money will cover the cost of liability insurance for the property, according to the grant application.

Finally, the McBride-based Yellowhead Ski Club’s request for $4,500 in grant money was approved. The money will fund trail improvements, fuel for grooming equipment, insurance, and cabin repairs and maintenance, according to the grant application. The club is also hoping to replace the warmup hut at the Belle Mountain trailhead and may apply for other grants in the future.
