A magnitude 4.5 earthquake about 40 kilometres south of Grande Prairie, Alberta was felt in McBride at about 2:13 p.m. Thursday afternoon, according to Earthquakes Canada.

In an email to The Goat, Earthquakes Canada seismologist Camille Brillon said the agency expects the earthquake was felt in the Robson Valley. However, Earthquakes Canada has only received one felt report from McBride, according to Brillon.

“We are waiting for further information from the Alberta Energy Regulator to determine if this was related to industrial activity,” Brillon added.
