A 25-year-old American tourist died after falling in Mount Robson Provincial Park last week, according to the RCMP.

According to Staff Sergeant Kris Clark with RCMP Communications Services, Valemount RCMP received a report of a climbing accident on Saturday, August 31st. Three men were climbing in the area of the Wishbone Arête, a notoriously difficult route located on a steep ridge on the south side of Mount Robson, when one of them — the 25-year-old from Washington state — lost his footing and fell.

“Robson Valley Search and Rescue, with the assistance of Parks Canada, were able to locate and transport the two other climbers from the area,” Clark told The Goat. The other two climbers were located and transported from the area by Search and Rescue with the assistance of Parks Canada.

No further details on the case will be released, the RCMP said.
