Highway 16 has reopened to all traffic from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. PDT after having previously been closed due to the Jasper wildfire complex. However, vehicles passing through must go directly through the park without stopping.
The highway may be closed on short notice, and will be closed nightly from 8 p.m. PDT to 6 a.m. PDT. Drivers can check DriveBC or 511 Alberta for updates.
Additionally, services such as fuel, washrooms, and food are unavailable in the park. Fire suppression activities are ongoing, so drivers should obey all road signs and posted speed limits, according to 511 Alberta. The fire may also impact visibility while driving.Drive BC expects to make another update on Highway 16 on Wednesday morning, according to its Highway 16 information page. 511 Alberta does not list a time for its next update.
