Firefighters in the Town of Jasper are continuing to assess infrastructure damages, according to a Facebook post from Jasper National Park.
358 structures in the town have been destroyed. About 30 per cent of the town is damaged. All critical infrastructure – such as the hospital and firehall – remains intact.
Those on the ground are working to create a list of the addresses of damaged structures, which they hope to release soon. However, they ask for patience as they work to verify which homes have been damaged.
“We want to avoid telling people they lost their home when they didn’t, or saying they didn’t lose their home when they did,” the Facebook post reads.
The post also says that the Bylaw Officer will take any pets who were left behind to the Hinton SPCA. For updates, people can text or call 780-852-5518.
Further updates are coming tomorrow morning, according to the post.
