The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George has issued an evacuation order for 10 properties due to the Beaver River east of McBride, which has expanded from 240 hectares Sunday evening to 500 hectares Monday morning.

The evacuation order is in effect for the area shown on the map below.

The RDFFG says the order to evacuate was issued to ensure life and safety. Residents in the evacuation order area are asked to leave immediately and must remain away from the area until the order is lifted.

“Conditions may change unexpectedly and first responders will not be able to assist those in the evacuation order area,” the District said in a release.

The RDFFG’s Emergency Operations Centre is activated and the District says residents in the evacuation order area are required to contact the Regional District.

The District says it will make arrangements for the provision of Emergency Support Services (ESS)
such as food and lodging as well as livestock relocation, feed and housing expenses if needed.

Those in the evacuation area can reach the RDFFG at 1-250-960-4400 or Toll Free at 1-800-667-1959.
