The Regional District of Fraser Fort-George has issued an evacuation alert (see below) for properties north of Hwy 16 east of McBride in the vicinity of the Beaver River, due to growth in the Beaver River Wildfire. The alert means property owners should be ready to leave if fire conditions worsen.

Evacuation alert:

The fire has grown from 2 hectares when it was discovered Friday afternoon to 50 hectares Saturday night.

As of Saturday morning, there were two initial attack crews assigned to this fire, with BCWS personnel being supported by contract crews. Wildfire aviation personnel have also been assigned to the blaze to support BCWS ground personnel.

All open burning in the Robson Valley Fire Zone is currently banned including campfires and the provincial fire danger rating is forecast to remain extreme for the coming days. Some 13 fires were started in the Robson Valley Friday due to lightning.
