The Beaver River wildfire is still at 500 hectares, according to a 9:44 a.m. update to the BC Wildfire Service dashboard on Thursday.

The fire is still listed as out of control, meaning it is anticipated to spread beyond its current perimeter. Two initial attack crews are responding to the wildfire, along with six pieces of heavy equipment. To protect infrastructure, ground personnel are establishing machine guard at the base of the slope.

The evacuation order issued for 10 properties in the area on Monday morning is still in effect. The evacuation alert issued for properties northwest of the fire, along Highway 16, is also still in effect.

At the time of writing, BCWS has not updated the status of other fires in the Dunster area.
