The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George has downgraded the evacuation order for Beaver River to an evacuation alert.
Residents of the 10 properties that have been under evacuation order since Monday may return to their homes, but should be prepared to leave on short notice. This includes gathering important papers and sentimental items, putting together an emergency kit with 72 hours of food and water, and making arrangements for livestock to go to a safe place if an evacuation order is issued.
There are now about 50 properties on evacuation alert for the Beaver River fire, according to the Regional District.
The Beaver River Fire remains at 500 hectares, according to the BC Wildfire Service Dashboard and is still listed as an out of control fire, meaning it is anticipated to spread beyond its current perimeter or control line.
