It never fails to be an adventure when I go to visit or help snowmobile supplies into Greggo Mutch’s trapline cabinwhich is situated near the mouth of Chalco Creek. This major watershed empties into the Holmes River. With theHolmes River Valley Forest Service Road not being plowed due to no recent logging activity Greggo and his partnerAlona have to walk the 15 km out to the highway. One such trip at the end of January just after 30 inches of snowhad fallen up the Holmes River was pretty interesting to say the least. With my snowmobile skimmer loaded withsupplies for them as well as for their chickens, numerous cats and a dog and with Tyler Hagen helping with hismachine we snowmobiled through this dry powdery snow. With basically zero snow base our sleds sank to thebottom. With any kind of speed a solid curtain of snow greeted our faces along the way. Actually, Tyler and I enjoyedthe experience as well being able to help them get back home of which they were so thankful. /LEON LORENZRelated Posts:Fraser Headwaters Alliance postponing East…Camouflage toadBlue River reels with access woesTrail development at risk due to planned road closureExploring the KiwaPost navigationOut on a limbBirds of a feather…felting together
