I wanted to let Laura know what a fantastic article she wrote re Valemount’s mountain theme bylaw.
I absolutely agree. I realize that as a tourist destination sometimes there has to be some restrictions to buildings for the sake of appearance; however, this also has the potential to squelch creativity and new ideas.
In my earlier years I lived and travelled in Europe and I agree with Laura’s observation. There are so many beautiful works of art and architecture that should inspire us to embrace genuineness and unique creativity. It is the “different” that draws the eye. If this is done tastefully and not wastefully these works are a bonus to both community members and visitors.
Great article Laura!
