The BC Wildfire Service is sending a Response Officer to look for wildfires in the Valemount area this morning after reports last night of smoke south of town. Some reports have noted smoke coming from near Mt Diefenbaker.
“We have received several reports of that fire and will be assessing it as well as identifying any other new wildfires in the area,” said Alex Lane, BC Fire Information Officer.
No new fires were currently visible on the BC Wildfire map, as of 2pm Sat. Aug 13th.
On the other side of the Premier Range, three new lightning fires are burning in Wells Grey Provincial Park. Another two small fires about 20km north of Blue River are being monitored, one of which was discovered today.
