This bee was flying from flower to flower about the garden busy pollinating. You might notice that some bees have orange or yellow clumps along their hind legs resembling tiny saddlebags. These bright spots of cargo are pollen baskets or corbiculae. The pollen basket or corbicula (plural corbiculae) is part of the tibia on the hind legs of certain species of bees. They use the structure in harvesting pollen and carrying it to the nest or hive. These baskets are found in apid bees, including honey bees and bumblebees. / SANDRA JAMESRelated Posts:Bee mineMcBride Bee RescueGoldenYellow velvet beetleMini NaturePost navigationHeat Warning in effectMcBride sisters on duty with BC Wildfire
