Canada geese like all other wild creatures know exactly where to select a location to raise a family. This goose knows the advantages of nesting on a small raised island which will give her a higher degree of safety from wandering predators. The incubation time for Canada geese is 25 – 28 days and the clutch size is around 2 – 9 eggs. A rarely seen event in the wild can happen unexpectedly at any time and such was the case when I was filming this nesting goose. I suddenly heard an excited call from a hairy woodpecker directly behind me and I quickly turned around to witness 2 bald eagles cartwheeling out of the sky with their talons locked. They separated just before they hit the water. Territorial tussles and courtship rituals are the reasons they put on this amazing display. /LEON LORENZRelated Posts:Birds of a featherSnow geeseNesting comfortablyThis week in photos: May 21stBird feeders a concern in spread of avian fluPost navigationEditorial – Stock Day team a testament to creative community thinkingDark eyed Junco
