New McBride resident Kat Vickery does not call herself an artist, she’s a crafter. But when her husband Fred saw on the news that a lady created an Ogopogo snow sculpture and made a comment about doing something like that in their yard, Vickery thought ‘Why not?’ In honour of Chinese New Year on February 2, the year of the tiger, she created an almost life-size snow tiger in their front yard on 4th Ave in McBride. “I shoveled snow into a pile and removed all the big ice chunks,” said Vickery. “I started on the ears and worked my way down.” Her paint and paint brush only lasted for short periods of time before freezing. She had to take short thaw-out breaks in the house as she painted the tiger with environmentally friendly food colouring paint. /ANDREA ARNOLDRelated Posts:LETTER: McBride drainage issuesMcBride by-election candidate: Kat VickeryEditorial - Thankless jobs we need to be thankful forSwallowtailSnow hoodoosPost navigationSpecial avalanche warning for large portion of BC and Jasper, AlbertaLetter: Take it to court
