Due to pipeline construction, the access road to Camp Creek cross-country ski area south of Valemount will be affected by pipeline construction over the next few weeks.
Trans Mountain spokesperson Ali Hounsell said Trans Mountain is building a detour road to avoid disruptions, but the road will have to be closed for one day to perform the pipe tie-in.
“The road will be closed nearing the end of this week,” she said. “Before it is closed, a detour for the public will be developed. The detour will be in place for approximately a week. Complete pipeline install will occur over this week in the area.”
She said only dayshift is planned in this area at this time.
A note from the local rec club told its members that the road is not closed but there are waits of an hour or more to get through.
“The area will not be groomed until there are no more wait times.”
Camp Creek is a popular cross-country ski area with many kilometres of groomed trails, a picnic shelter and a cabin that can be booked for overnight stays.
