The snowshoe hare has a three layer coat which is made up of the short and dense underfur, the longer buff tipped hairs and the coarser guard hairs. This triple layer fur coat keeps it warm in cold and wet conditions as it huddles in its form throughout most of the daylight hours. /LEON LORENZ
