Todd McCready’s dad Tom McCready was one of the young men who enlisted during World War II. He joined the navy and served three years. He spent much of his time stationed off Canada’s West Coast. Todd’s wife Ellen Duncan says Tom was one of the lucky ones to come home. She said a lot of young men felt it was their duty to join at that time. “He was a very community-minded person and well respected in the Jasper community,” she said of his life after the military. He played hockey and was also a skier and was part of Jasper’s initial ski hill. /LAURA KEILRelated Posts:Balcaens: four generations of serviceVeteran: Clay CochraneVeterans' Voices: David BlanchetteVeteran's Voices: Clayton GeeLETTER - The courage of young women and menPost navigationVeteran: Clay CochraneLetter: Who was there at the beginning?
