Ron and Sarah Simonton enjoyed sunshine and laughs as Daphne the donkey swiped a donut off the table during Robson Valley Community Support’s ‘Goats & Grandparents, Donkeys and Donuts’ event Monday August 23 in the RVCS yard in McBride. “It was a very fun event, well-attended and received,” said Operations & Support Service Manager Jana Master. “The idea came from RVCS staff member Sara Olofsson who collaborated with our newest program staff member Angel Rainville, Seniors Activity Worker. We all know that many individuals have been experiencing feelings of isolation and disconnection from their friends and family members, especially at this time. ‘Goats & Grandparents, Donkeys and Donuts’ was aimed at connecting seniors with their friends and family with the company of farm animals.” RVCS hosts a weekly Seniors drop-in program Tuesdays from 1-3 in both Valemount and McBride, and is planning more events and workshops, such as a painting event in late September. /ANDREA ARNOLDThe goats played themselves out quickly and napped most of the event. They woke up near the end of their time together and Rambo got some scratches from Al Birnie and Flo Mynio, as Lotte Rauter held him. /ANDREA ARNOLDRelated Posts:Fill your pantry: RVCS offers food for freeTablet and tech support coming for Robson Valley seniorsMen's program makes headwayRVCS offers more senior-focused programsReaching out to seniors"¦ in real lifePost navigationWelcome Home seating expansionTournament donation
