*2pm UPDATE* power has been restored to Valemount area customers.

The power outage affecting approx. 1000 customers in the Valemount area should end within the next couple hours, a media spokesperson told the Goat.
BC Hydro had updated the estimated restoration time for Valemount to 1:00 pm but as of 1:45 the power was still out.
“Although crews have completed the necessary repairs, we are having trouble re-energizing the Valemount substation remotely,” said Jen Walker-Larsen. “We are working to get the power back as soon as we can.”
She said if they need to send staff to the substation to troubleshoot the communications equipment it may be a couple more hours.
The power outage has lasted since 6am this morning.
