Campground reservations got underway for the 2020 season at Jasper National Park on Jan. 7th, 2020. Parks Canada says there were 11,431 bookings on the first day of reservations breaking the previous record set in 2018 by 20 percent.
“What makes this more impressive is that the record was set despite the closure of Whistlers Campground for reconstruction in 2020 which takes more than 750 campsites a day out of the available inventory,” a press release said.
Parks Canada says it is not too late to reserve a campsite: there is still availability in most campgrounds throughout the summer months.
Backcountry Campground Reservations Open on January 22, 2020
Jasper National Park has over 80 backcountry campgrounds for those who prefer more of a wilderness experience. Backcountry reservations begin on January 22, 2020 at 8:00 AM MST. Areas such as Maligne Lake, the Skyline Trail and the Brazeau Loop book up extremely quickly, Parks Canada says.
