On Tuesday October 8, 2019 at 8:30am, a student from McBride Secondary School was headed to school when she was approached by a motorist. The man told the student that school had been cancelled and offered her a ride home. The student did not go with the man and continued to walk to school. Once there, it was reported to school staff, who then called the police.
A description of the vehicle and the suspect were provided to police and a person of interest has been identified and spoken to and police do not believe there was any criminal intent.
“RCMP are asking parents and guardians to talk to your children about what they should do if approached by a stranger and to never accept anything from someone they do not know”, said Cst Neal Kalnin McBride RCMP.
