VCTV won $1,000 at the local cable awards this past summer, and donated the funds to the quilting society in a random draw. After deciding the funds could be better used within the Senior Housing Society, the Quilting Society decided to re-donate and topped it up with $500 of their own money. The $1500 was split evenly between the Seniors Housing Society and Meals on Wheels (a Housing Society program)“We use the facility downstairs, and (the Senior Housing Society) has never upped the rent,” says Duerkson. “They’ve been really good to us. To me, this is where the money needs to go, and we’ll be here one day too.
