A spate of search and rescue calls by snowmobilers has kept local crews busy.
On February 20th Valemount RCMP were notified of SOS Beacon in the Mt. Netzel area. The call was determined to be a medical call that resulted from a snowmobiling accident. BC Ambulance was advised and Search and Rescue was activated. The man was air lifted to hospital.
On February 26th the McBride RCMP received a report of two overdue males who were snowmobiling in the Renshaw Mountain area. Search and Rescue was activated. The two local McBride males were forced to spend a night on the mountain after becoming stuck. A Search and Rescue helicopter located the pair in the morning of February 27th and the men were found to be uninjured.
On February 26th the McBride RCMP received a report of an injured man involved in a snowmobiling accident near the Renshaw Mountain area. Search and Rescue was activated and the 46-year-old Alberta man was air lifted by helicopter to the McBride Hospital for care. The man had been injured after a second snowmobile’s throttle got stuck and the two machines collided.
On February 27th the McBride RCMP received a report of two people stranded while snowmobiling on Lucille Mountain. Search and Rescue was activated and made a quick rescue of the two Alberta residents.
