During July and August, the Valmount RCMP have observed many youth in the community exhibiting great bicycle safety practices. From stopping at stop signs, using appropriate hand signals, and most importantly wearing their helmet. A total of 65 positive tickets were served on youth around the village with two thirds being redeemed to date for a refreshing slush drink at the local Petro-Canada. It was great to see so many children in the community taking safety seriously, and parents alike setting good examples. As the seasons change and colder weather creeps in we encourage everyone to put safety at the front of every recreation activity. Plans are already in the works to build on the success of this program for Summer 2016.
If your child has been served a positive ticket but has not yet redeemed it for their slush drink there is still time, get them in! Petro-Canada (employees Jennifer Bryant & Trisha Blake pictured above) will accept them until the end of September.
