In the late evening of Sept. 13th, 2015, a Ford pickup truck entered the Home Hardware parking lot in Valemount and collided with the business’s parked flat deck delivery truck, causing substantial damage. Some occupants of the Ford exited the vehicle while at the scene and then fled shortly after without reporting the damage or contacting the police.
Working with the local chapter of Crime Stoppers, Cst. Jason Nash of the Valemount RCMP released photos from security cameras of the scene on Monday, Sept. 14th, and the next day Crime Stoppers put up posters around town asking for information about the incident and the people involved.
“On Wednesday Cst. Nash advised that someone had identified the truck in the picture and he took it from there,” said Bill Kruisselbrink, president of the local Crime Stoppers. He’s happy to say the program works, though he can’t speak to any charges that might be laid, and won’t know anything about the issue unless the tipster decided that he or she wants a reward.
Cst. Nash confirmed that the incident has been solved, and one of the two leads was from viewing Crime Stoppers posts around town.
