A VIA Rail passenger train was stopped on the 5th Avenue crossing in Valemount for almost two hours on August 19th. A spokesperson for VIA said first responders were called to assist a passenger on the train. RCMP reports a doctor was on board the train and administered CPR after an apparent heart attack, but the 87-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The BC Coroner’s office confirmed the man had longstanding medical problems.
