On April 28th, a brief dust storm came off the Kinbasket Lake drawdown zone. Though it did pass through like the swift wind that carried it, Art Carson managed to capture some shots of this particulate entity sweeping through.
Above right: dust being lifted from drawdown zone at head of lake, 1:22pm.
Photos: much-reduced dust cloud seen from Canoe View Park, 2:33pm; particulate readout showing the bulk of the dust passed through Valemount between 11:00am and noon- and, perhaps surprisingly, rating the overall air quality for the day as “good.” The wind continued through town, also picking up dust at various spots around town like the blocked-off end of Elm Street behind John Osadchuk Park.
