The McBride Figure Skating Club put on a stellar performance with this year’s carnival, Space Odyssey, March 22. With clever use of lights in many costumes, and a backdrop of illuminated sun, moon, stars and aliens, skaters showed off their talents honed over the past year.
It was also the Canoe Valley Skating Club’s annual carnival and Sharon Rose Shalla’s 25th year of coaching. Shalla says she’s “loved every minute of it.” Her favourite parts is to see the outcomes of the kids and them having fun. She says it’s also wonderful to see the younger kids looking up to the older kids. She says she has no plans to retire.
