On December 29, 2014 Valemount RCMP attended a local motel to keep the peace after a dispute occurred between a guest and the office staff surrounding a hotel bill. The matter was resolved by the two disputants and police departed.
On December 29, 1014 Valemount RCMP responded to a single vehicle tractor trailer collision at the Thompson River Bridge. No one was injured in the collision which is attributed to driver error as road conditions were bare and dry.
On December 30, 2014 an Alberta man called to report that his secondary snowmobile was stolen from Allen Creek from the back of his truck the previous day while he was riding during the day. If anyone has any information regarding this report they are asked to call the Valemount RCMP at 250-566-4466 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
On December 30, 2014 Valemount RCMP were called to an injured moose on Highway 5 near Chappel Creek. Police attended and the animal was put down.
On December 30, 2014 Valemount RCMP stopped a vehicle after it was tracked travelling at 145 km/h near Canoe River. The driver, a 31 year old Victoria female was issued an excessive speeding ticket in the amount of $368 and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
On December 30, 2014 McBride RCMP stopped a vehicle for speed. An odour of marihuana was detected in the vehicle and the driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. A small amount of marihuana was seized for destruction and the driver was released without criminal charges after being issued a speeding ticket.
On December 31, 2014 Valemount and McBride RCMP conducted multiple check stops for impaired drivers at various locations. No impaired drivers were stopped.
On January 1, 2015 Valemount RCMP located an intoxicated male walking on Dogwood carrying a case of beer. When police spoke with the male he became confrontational and was overtly impaired. The male arrested for being drunk in public and was released the next morning with a fine.
On January 1, 2015 Valemount RCMP responded to a fight at the Best Western hotel. Several intoxicated subjects got in to a physical altercation resulting in injuries. The matter is still under investigation and charges are pending against one or more subjects. Anyone with information is asked to call the Valemount RCMP.
On January 2 and 3, 2015 Valemount RCMP responded to multiple collisions on Highway 5 and 16. No one was seriously injured in any of the collisions which resulted in several drivers receiving charges under the Motor Vehicle Act.
On January 2, 2015 Valemount RCMP received a report of overdue sledders at Chappel Creek. Robson Valley Search and Rescue was activated and the sledders were located and rescued the following morning. They spent the night in the back country after getting stuck in a bowl.
