A 53-year-old Vernon man is dead after a deadly crash south of Valemount Friday. It happened around 4 p.m. about 18 km north of Blue River on Hwy 5.
An RCMP Collision Analyst/Reconstructionist conducted a detailed examination of the crash scene which led to the highway being closed for several hours.
RCMP say a pick-up truck and a tractor-trailer collided head on, killing the driver of the pick-up on scene.
Two other men were riding in the pick-up. Both men were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries.
RCMP say there was heavy snow and slushy conditions at the time of the crash, but the cause is still under investigation.
Valemount RCMP, the BC Coroners Service and Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
The next of kin have been notified. The name of the deceased is not being released at this time.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash and have not yet spoken to police to contact the Valemount RCMP at 250-566-4466.
