On December 1, 2014 Valemount RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision near Jackman Flats. A south bound pickup truck drove into the back of a parked tractor trailer unit. The driver, a 31 old Terrace male, claimed he was reaching down to pick something up. An odour of liquor was detected on the male and he provided a breath sample of .054 into an approved screening device. The driver was issued a 24 hour prohibition and a violation ticket for drive without due care.

On December 1, 2014 McBride RCMP had an iPhone turned into them. The owner was located and the phone was returned.

On December 1, 2014 a 19 year old male resident attended the McBride RCMP detachment to speak with police about rumors that he was dealing drugs in town. The male advised he does not sell drugs and only smokes a bit producing a case with a small amount marihuana in it. Police seized 3 grams of marihuana and the male was surprised that he could not have it back. No charges are pending based on the small amount of marihuana seized.

On December 1, 2014 On December 2, 2014 Valemount RCMP attended a single vehicle tractor trailer collision on Highway 16 east of the scales. The east bound semi got caught in the soft shoulder and rolled onto its side in the ditch. Neither the driver nor passenger was seriously injured. Police received reports of several other minor collisions this same day. None resulted in any injuries and only required the vehicle being towed from the ditch.

On December 2, 2014 Valemount RCMP recovered a stolen pick-up truck near Albreda. The vehicle was stolen out of Alberta on November 18. The owner has been contacted.

On December 2, 2014 a local male on conditions to sign in at the McBride detachment failed to comply with his conditions. Another breach charge has been added to his existing numerous breaches and other criminal code charges.

On December 3, 2014 Valemount and McBride RCMP were called to assist in a search of a vehicle after the male driver assaulted and fled from a Chetwynd officer. The officer was not hurt in the altercation and the suspect, a 29 year old Grande Prairie male, was later located south of Blue River near the Kinder Morgan compressor station. The male is facing charges out of Clearwater detachment.

On December 3, 2014 Valemount RCMP received a report of a possible stranded snowmobiler on Mica Mountain after a witness observed a light that had not moved in a while. Police were able to determine that the light belonged to a groomer that had stopped to check equipment and no one was stranded.

On December 3, 2014 McBride RCMP attended a single vehicle collision on Highway 16 west of McBride. A semi unit lost control and spun into the ditch. No one was injured. The matter is still under investigation and charges are being considered.

On December 3, 2014 McBride RCMP observed an intoxicated male in the presence of a female contrary to Court ordered conditions of not to consume alcohol or be in the presence of this female. The male was arrested and lodged in cells to sober up. The male, a 43 year old Comox male, was later released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in Court in March.

On December 4, 2014 Valemount RCMP attended two separate motor vehicle collisions on Highway 16. Neither driver was injured in wither incident.

On December 5, 2014 Valemount RCMP along with CVSE conducted a check stop in alignment with National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day near Camp Creek. Several commercial and personal use vehicles were checked with no drivers being impaired by alcohol. Approximately 150 vehicles were checked and the check stop was well received by the public. Several violation tickets were issued for offences ranging from Failing to Display an “N” to Failing to having an operating breakaway device on a trailer. An unlicensed driver was also stopped and issued a ticket and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

During the same check stop police entered into a drug investigation after a strong odour of marihuana was detected in a vehicle. A 29 year old Edmonton male is facing CDSA charges after 170 grams of marihuana and assorted drug paraphernalia was seized from his vehicle. The male was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in Court in March.

On December 5, 2014 police received a report that a male had been bitten by his own German Shepard. The male suffered several bites before the dog took off the property. The owner received medical treatment for his injuries. Patrols for the dog were made, but it was not located. The owner was directed to contact bylaw enforcement who looks after matters concerning dogs.

On December 5, 2014 McBride RCMP conducted a check stop in alignment with National Impaired Driving Enforcement Day near Lucille Mountain Forest Service Road. None of the drivers coming the through the road check were impaired. Another road check was later conducted west of McBride with no alcohol infractions. Many drivers made positive comments to police about the road check.

On December 6, 2014 Valemount RCMP received a complaint of 2 intoxicated females pushing each other and then leaving a local bar. Police attended, but the females had departed and were not located. On December 7, 2014 Valemount RCMP were called after a snowmobiler drove his sled off a cliff in the Clemina area. Robson Valley Search and Rescue and BC Ambulance Service were activated and with the assistance of long line rescue from Jasper the male victim, a 24 year old Alberta resident, was then air lifted to McBride and later transferred to Jasper. Police would like to thank all of the Robson Valley SAR volunteers for their continued dedication to this valuable program.

Christmas party season is now in full swing and police would like to remind everyone to stay safe this holiday season by arranging for a safe ride home at the start of your night. Police will be conducting random check stops throughout December in an effort to keep the roads safe. Anyone caught drinking and driving will be charged.
