On Nov. 17th at 12:01 PM, Valemount RCMP received several 911 calls from a residence in the 1000 block of 14th Ave.
Upon arrival to the residence, officers learned that a 61-year-old woman had been assaulted by a 41 year old man who fled from the scene. The woman was transported to the local hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
At 2:31 PM the suspect who is well known to police, turned himself in to the local detachment.
The suspect and victim knew each other and the public is not at risk.
The alleged offender has been remanded into custody and will appear in court at a later date.
