It has been damaged for quite some time, but it looks like VIA Rail will be replacing the bent sign at the Valemount stop. All it took was one complaint to VIA Rail.
On Oct. 14th, Bob Hoskins got a response from his complaint to VIA about the sign that marks their passenger stop on Main Street. In his complaint, he said the sign had been damaged for over a year, and that it looked bad both on VIA and on the Village. VIA apparently agreed, because he got a response asking for the length of the sign so that a replacement can be made up in Vancouver and shipped up here to be installed.
Mylene Belanger, spokesperson for Via Rail, has confirmed that the sign will be replaced within the next three to four weeks. She says it was the first time the damaged sign was brought to their attention.
