Valemount’s first trade show is coming on Sept. 19th and 20th, complete with concession, speakers and a lounge area, and activities for the kids.
There will be a small admission charge to help cover the costs of putting on the show, says Diane Fowler, one of the organizers for the Valemount and Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored event. Professional trade show booths will be set up in the Valemount Curling Club, and both the club’s kitchen and lounge area will be open. Kinnickinnickers Family Centre is organizing activities for the kids, and the Chamber is organizing speakers throughout the day in the lounge area upstairs. Cam Bell will be speaking about Love Valemount project and both the Village of Valemount and Tourism Valemount have confirmed they’ll be attending the trade show. Fowler says other speakers are still being confirmed.
“It’s a great opportunity to network with other businesses, and with the community, to help your business grow,” Fowler says. She says she’s worked hard to invite all local businesses and services, and extended the offer to businesses in Kamloops, Jasper and Prince George, when there was a gap, to give residents a good range of opportunity.
“This kind of event shows the potential of the building in the off-season,” says Valemount Curling Club president Diana Smith. The installation of new lighting on the rink surface was recently completed.
The trade show runs from 6-9 pm on Friday September 19, and 10-6 on Saturday.
