Forty-one riders from Valemount, McBride, Prince George, Hinton and even three from Europe took part in the Valemount Saddle and Wagon Club’s 5th Annual Poker Ride on Sunday, Sept. 14th.
Leah Peterson was the winner of the saddle package with the highest poker hand. Meike Hendricks was the winner of the Ghost Rider Raffle of $100. Member Claire Hendriks sold the winning ticket, as well as selling the most tickets, and received a $50 gas card from Petro Canada. After the ride, people enjoyed hotdogs and watermelon donated by IGA. Participants and volunteers all received something from one of the generous supporters in a prize draw, started after all riders were in.
Besides riding on the trails, riders had the opportunity to challenge their riding skills through an obstacle course developed by Shona Thorne and Isla Clayton.
The club is most appreciative of their volunteers, whose time and support make the event successful.
