On August 12, McBride RCMP responded to a theft at the old mill on Ziedler Drive. Suspects entered the property at which time a 50 foot length of one inch copper wire was stolen. The following night, the thieves returned to the property at which time they made off with a 250 foot length of the same wire in addition. Police continue to investigate this incident and anyone with information is asked to contact Cst. Pete Berndsen or Crime Stoppers at 1(800)222-TIPS.
On August 12, 2014, Valemount RCMP responded to a break and enter that occurred at Stellar Descents Back Country Adventure building located in Tete Jaune Cache. A lock had been removed from a storage locker where suspects made off with wet suits, neoprene boots and life jackets. Anyone who might have information regarding this incident is asked to contact Cst. Ryan Walker of the Valemount Detachment or Crime Stoppers.
During the evening of August 13, a member from the Valemount Detachment was on patrol when he checked a Jeep Cherokee near the entrance of the Petro-Canada. After running the licence plate of the vehicle, the officer discovered that it was stolen out of Salmon Arm. An adult male associated to this vehicle was taken into police custody without any incident. Further checks of this male revealed that he was prohibited from operating a motor vehicle anywhere in Canada and he also had an outstanding warrant for his arrested out of Grande Prairie, Alberta. Several Criminal Code charges are pending against this male who is scheduled to appear in Valemount Provincial Court on October 9th.
On August 15, McBride RCMP attended to the local Elks Hall on Holdway Street at which time the premise had been broken into. Suspects gained entry inside at which time a back room had also been forced open and several boxes had been thrown around. Anyone with information regarding this break in is asked to contact Cpl. Jay Grierson or Crime Stoppers.
