The annual Valemount Legion auction pulled in more than $500 from the sale of everything from donated paintings to a typewriter to barbecues and crocheting.
Auctioneer Mayor Andru McCracken did his best to keep things moving quickly at the three-hour event. He highlighted the benefits of the hodgepodge of items that were auctioned off together. For example, a piece of luggage also got the bidder astronomy books, doilies and a teddy bear. Most bids started at 50 cents.
