Two BC Summer Games boys’ teams got a chance to play each other last weekend in Valemount before the big competition starts in July. On Saturday, Softball BC’s Zone 2 team (Kamloops) faced off against Zone 8 (Prince George) for a double header at the Valemount sports grounds. “It’s nice to be able to get the kids to play games,” says David Wilson, coach of the Prince George team, “particularly against competitors they’ll play against when we get to the Summer Games.” Kevin Van Damme, coach of the Kamloops team, says Valemount was a convenient spot, about half way for both teams. Local track star Omar Medina was selected to be on the Prince George team, and on the Kamloops team was Julien Dewey who lives in Clearwater. His grandparents Marian and Jerry Plummer live in Valemount. The BC Summer Games start in Nanaimo July 17th.
