Team Piper won the Ladies Bonspeil at the Valemount Curling Club this past weekend, with Team Smith coming in second. Teams Hoy and McNee tied for third, with Teams Dunn and Kruysifix splitting last. Last Saturday was a long day with three games and many moms trying to squeeze in the afternoon showing of the Skating carnival next door, but most of the ladies were happy to not have to play Sunday morning. A few might have been hoarse from Saturday evening’s entertainment.
There will be one more bonspiel this year, traditionally called the Logger’s Bonspeil, but it might be renamed to the Community Spirit Bonspeil. The club will be encouraging families and kids to come out, as curling is a game that kids can play with adults, as long as they can get the rock down the ice.
