30 people gathered at the Tete Jaune hall last Satuday to learn how to drum. Participants enjoyed beautiful handmade drums, originally from Ghana. Drumming instructor Granville Johnson was once a professional dancer as part of an Afro-Canadian band, in Vancouver. He eventually grew to love the Djembe and drumming in general.
Granville’s hands, moving very quickly, resonated marvelous rhythms. He shared the music in his soul with the 30 participants who took part in the Valemount Arts and Cultural Society drumming workshop.
