In an effort to better keep the community informed the Robson Valley Regional RCMP will be providing weekly press releases to the local papers. The list is not inclusive of all calls of service the local RCMP detachments receive, but provides a cross section of what is happening in the Robson Valley.
On January 13, 2014 Valemount RCMP were called to a report of a fight between two males at a local hotel. Police attended and located one male in his room. He provided police with his particulars and his side of the story. The second male was not located by police. The male was warned for causing a disturbance by fighting and remained in his room for the evening. Alcohol was a factor in the fight.
On January 13, 2014 Valemount RCMP seized a total of 127 marijuana plants at a local hotel as a result of an investigation of a fight between two males.
On January 13, 2014 McBride RCMP conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on the Frontage Road. The driver was served a 4-month driving prohibition on behalf of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles and a Violation Ticket for driving contrary to his restrictions.
On January 14, 2014 Valemount RCMP were called to a report of collision involving two semi’s on Highway 5 near the Thompson River bridge. Police attended with BC Ambulance, Valemount Fire Rescue, Ministry of Transportation and Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement. The two semi’s clipped each other after one lost control on the icy roads as a result of actions of another vehicle. Minor injuries resulted from the collision. Traffic was delayed as both lanes of travel were blocked for a short period.
On January 15, 2014 McBride RCMP arrested a male for failing to appear in court. A charge of breach of his undertaking has been recommended to Crown Counsel for failing to report to the McBride Detachment as required by the courts. The male was held in custody for court in Prince George.
On January 15, 2014 Valemount RCMP were called to a report of a collision involving a tour bus on Highway 16 near Mount Robson. Police attended and located a bus with its rear wheels in the ditch as a result of it having spun out on the icy road. No injuries were reported and the bus only required to be pulled out of the ditch before carrying on to its destination.
On January 15, 2014 Valemount RCMP were called to a residence regarding a dispute between a landlord and current tenant. Both parties were advised to contact the Landlord-Tenant Branch as the matter was civil in nature. A small amount of marijuana was seized at the residence as result of the investigation.
On January 17, 2014 Valemount RCMP members conducted a Counter Attack Road Check. All drivers checked were found to be sober.
On January 18, 2014 Valemount RCMP were called to a fight involving 10 people at a local gas station. Police attended and found two males with minor injuries as a result of the fight. All other parties had departed and were unknown to the men. The fight was determined to be consensual and alcohol was a factor.
On January 18, 2014 Valemount RCMP were called to assist BC Ambulance with a male with a broken leg after rolling his snowmobile. The male was transported to McBride Hospital for treatment.
