In an effort to better keep the community informed the Robson Valley Regional RCMP will be providing weekly press releases to the local papers. The list is not inclusive of all calls of service the local RCMP detachments receive, but provides a cross section of what is happening in the Robson Valley.
On December 2, 2013 Valemount RCMP attended a single vehicle semi collision north of Blue River. No one was injured in the crash. Poor weather conditions were the major contributing factor.
On December 3, 2013 Valemount and McBride RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision near Dunster. The vehicle lost control on icy roads due its speed and was totalled. The driver, an 18-year-old Quesnel male, was issued a violation ticket of speed relative to conditions.
On December 4, 2013 Valemount RCMP were called to a single vehicle collision on Hwy 5 near Allen Creek. The north bound vehicle lost control after trying to avoid striking a moose. No one was injured in the crash.
On December 4, 2013 McBride RCMP attended the High School after a report of an altercation involving two youth. After speaking with all involved it was determined that the two males were engaged in some rough horseplay and nothing criminal in nature.
On December 4, 2013 while on patrol McBride RCMP interrupted a B & E in progress on 3rd Avenue. The suspect fled on foot before they could take anything. The residence was secured and the property representative notified.
On December 5, 2013 Valemount RCMP received a report of a single vehicle collision on Hwy 16 near Moose Lake. The vehicle lost control on the icy highway and the driver suffered a sore arm.
On December 5, 2013 Valemount RCMP were called to a local hotel for a male who had allegedly overdosed on sleeping pills. The male was transported to the Valemount Clinic by EHS and then assessed by a doctor. After it was determined that the male was not in any danger he was released from the Clinic.
On December 5, 2013 Valemount RCMP attended a single vehicle collision after it failed to negotiate a curve on icy roads. The driver was uninjured in the crash.
On December 7, 2013 Valemount RCMP responded to single vehicle collision on Hwy 16 near Rearguard Falls. The vehicle began to fishtail on icy roads and hit the ditch. The driver was not injured in the crash.
On December 7, 2013 Valemount and McBride RCMP conducted Counter Attack Road Checks for Impaired Drivers. All drivers checked were sober.
On December 8, 2013 Valemount RCMP were called to a two vehicle collision north of Valemount. A northbound station wagon rear ended a north bound pick-up truck after passing a tractor trailer unit. Visibility at the time was very poor. No one was injured in the crash.
