Tourism Valemount and VCTV (Channel 7/653) have partnered to produce a new series called Discover Valemount.
“We have been handed a golden opportunity to promote Valemount and area in a way we could never have afforded before,” said Charles Kosmadia, Chair of Tourism Valemount. “VCTV is now carried on the Bell and Telus satellite networks, reaching over 1.35 million viewers across Canada. We’re very excited to be partnering with VCTV on this exciting new program.”
The show will be a half-hour bi-weekly destination tourism television series focusing on Valemount and the area. The first episode aired in late May. It will be a dynamic, activity-based show, hosted by Jennifer Robinson, Tourism Valemount’s Marketing Coordinator. Each episode, Jennifer will be joined by a co-host or expert who will help interpret the areas’ many attractions and activities.
“I’m really excited to be hosting Discover Valemount,” said Robinson. “This will be an excellent opportunity to promote Valemount and area with tourism-based activities.”
Gord Peters, Station Manager for VCTV, says that the show will be one of VCTV’s flagship new series. “Our intent is to produce a quality series that showcases Valemount and area to Canadians, but VCTV will also look at selling the show internationally to capitalize on the strong interest for mountain destinations in the Asian and European markets.”
Tourism Valemount and VCTV are hoping that local tourism operators will step forward to help make Discover Valemount a success. “A show like this requires the cooperation and support of everyone,” said Peters. “For example, if we’re featuring activities on the show such as snowmobiling, horseback riding, helicopter touring, etc., we would look for local sponsors to provide the use of their equipment and facilities for the show in exchange for promoting their services to viewers. That’s the way all travel shows work to showcase tourism based products and activities. It’s a win-win for the entire community.”
Anyone interested in sponsoring Discover Valemount is asked to contact VCTV Station Manager Gord Peters.
